Stop! Or the guard dogs will…not bite you!
There’s a country drive I have to take every few weeks and, inevitably, I miss my turn on the way home, ending up in this teeny village that has just one store. But the good news is, it sells wild and wonderful, repurposed garden junk art!
That said, I’ve still never managed to come by when the shop is actually open. And I know there must be cool stuff in there because there’s all sorts of cool stuff outside.
Last time I passed by, I finally stopped to take some photos of the junk art guard dogs:
I know this kind of art downright annoys some people. Others don’t mind it so long as it’s not in their neighbourhood.
Me? I just love creative minds that can see wonderful things in oddly shaped piles of metal junk and put it all together.
This closeup shows the head is formed from some sort of auto parts, perhaps. The legs look like muffler pipes, perhaps. I didn’t get close enough to figure out what the teeth were made from – since I was photographing on private property and didn’t want to push my luck or frighten the dogs.
In addition to dog #2, note the wonderful alligator-type creature in the background and a few other interesting things including bowling pins and balls edging the garden bed:
I really have to make a point of visiting one day when the shop is actually open.
I would be perfectly happy to have one of these guys come live in my garden: I think they’d look great with flower pots on their heads.
